Covid-19 and Queen's College update 5

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families in this time of vulnerability.

We all find ourselves in a very unique and uncertain situation. We were not prepared for the effect of Covid-19 in many ways. Please be assured that our School Governing Body, School Management Team and the SGB’s Financial Committee (FINCOM) are working together to find best practise in dealing with all the new challenges.

Our academic and administrative staff continue to work hard at giving our boys every opportunity to advance their academic skills. A letter was posted earlier today on the D6 Communicator regarding this. We are fully committed to the Department of Education’s anticipated catch up plan to give your son every opportunity to excel academically.

We acknowledge that there are many financial challenges facing households currently. We do appeal that you continue being diligent regarding the payment of your son’s school fees. The Minister of Basic Education, Ms Angie Motshekga, has emphasised that parents remain under obligation to pay school fees. Please feel free to contact Mrs Kriedemann at debtors@queenscollege.co.za should you encounter difficulties fulfilling your son’s school fees obligation. We would like to discuss the matter with you. We continue taking pride in the support our school has always enjoyed from our incredible parent body. Together, we will overcome the challenges we face.

The school needs to continue honouring its financial obligations. Our largest monthly expense is the paying of educators’ and support staff salaries. It is school fee income that enables us to pay these salaries. Our educators, in particular, are currently working extremely hard to ensure that our learners continue learning via online lessons.
